Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hello, Clan Terror members, friends, supporters, and lurkers. I’ve been giving a lot of thought about the move to Dreamwidth, and here is my preliminary action plan:

Back up all comms to DW (form mirror comms).

Close aanime_fan on LJ. (not delete)
Close myth_fan on LJ. (not delete)
Keep puzzleprompts open on LJ, with frequent importing to it’s DW mirror comm.
Keep terror_scifi on LJ open, but only for newsletters, and I’ll probably still post fan vids, thanks to the easy You Tube link.

Create a new home base on DW for Clan Terror, called terror_sffa, absorbing terror_scifi, aanime_fan, and myth_fan back into one all encompassing speculative fic community.

As much as I love, love, freaking adore having these three comms separated, it’s time to bite the bullet, and admit this way may work out better for me, you, and Clan Terror on DW.

Good Evening, Puzzlers! Beginning with April's puzzles, Participant and One True Drabbler banners will now be semi-personalized.

Meaning, each banner for each fic will have the author’s name, but not the fic name. I will continue to hunt down pics for all fandoms for all banners, but sometimes, I can’t find a good one, even for champion banners. (I think I’ve lucked out on the winner banners, so far.)

If anyone ever has a pic they’d like me to use for their banner, please post it in the comment thread of the fic it’s for. That will be easier for me, than via PM. Screen caps are fine, but anything smaller than 300 pix probably won’t work well.

Also, for those of you moving to dreamwidth, I am hoping to have our mirror comm ready to go for May's puzzle, (if we don't move to AO3). More info and possible poll for all that coming soon.

Happy Valentine's Day, puzzlers! I hope this day is filled with love (in any form) for all of you.

Banner note: Winner and Champion banners for September will be posted later today.

Regarding March's puzzle - we will do another Make You Own Themed Puzzle. You will be able to follow the same guidelines as February's puzzle, plus there will be spring themes on offer. I will post those soon.

A word about themes: Needing a theme isn't meant to be a constraint. It is fine to simply have your story set on one the appropriate holidays, have you characters snowed in together or participating in a winter sport/fighting a blizzard, etc. Simply use author notes to tell me what and how the winter theme is being represented.

Sample Note:
Theme: Aquarius - Being dead doesn't stop this Aquarian from being an unpredictable commitment-phobe.
Power Hour: Flight - August
Creature Feature: Vampire - May
Classifieds: Gaurdian - August
Cosmic Constant: Time - April

Questions? Please, don't hesistate to ask below or PM me. Cheers, and happy puzzling :-)

Welcome to Winter Fest 2017 at Clan Terror! We’ve been doing seasonal fests at [livejournal.com profile] myth_fan for almost a year, and this year I thought it’d be fun to host them Clan wide. The announcements haven’t gone up at all the comms yet, though.

Entries to [livejournal.com profile] puzzleprompts will resume for February as promised, with the Make Your Own Themed Puzzle, created from last year’s puzzle pieces. Consider the themes below as the ones you will have to choose from.

For now, we’d love to have everyone’s participation at the fests going on at the other comms. Since each comm has a different focus, each ‘local fest’ is a little different. Please see the linked Opening Posts for more details.

Winter Fest Myth Fan
Everyone is welcome to contribute something to the Fest from any culture’s myths, folk tales, etc., that is seasonally appropriate and in our genres - mythology, folklore, urban legends, or such in modern media, or fantasy media in general.

At Terror Scifi
Genres include - sci-fi, fantasy, horror, steampunk, gothic, and any other branch of speculative fiction. Fills for Cosmic Collision prompts are also welcome.

Appropriate themes include:
Winter themes - barrenness, hibernation, death, gestation, rebirth, anticipation, etc.
Holidays - Christmas, Yule, Solstice, Epiphany, New Year’s (Western and Asian), Ground Hog’s Day, Imbolc, Candlemas, Valentine’s Day, Saint Patrick’s Day, Mardi Gras, Lent.
Astrology - Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces (Western/Indian), Fire Rooster (Chinese), Birch, Rowan, Ash, Alder (Celtic)

Happy 2017 Puzzlers! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.

Thanks so much to those who kept posting in my longer than expected absence.

And thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding. No life is perfect, but mine is a lot more ordered than it was a few months ago, and my professional license is in tact for another two years. If anyone is interested, I will not be locking my personal journal posts on my continuing mental health adventures, in the hopes someone finds them useful or helpful in some way.

January will be a rest month here at Puzzle Prompts, to give me time to catch up on your all's stories and banners.

February will be a special amnesty month - Make Your Own Themed Puzzle!
You get to make your own puzzle from the pieces/prompts from any and all of last year's puzzles.
All puzzles are unlocked, and will remain so until the end of February.
The only catch, is that every fic must have an overall theme/setting.
I will give you some to chose from. Amoung them will be Valentine's Day (love, loneliness, jealousy) and New Years (beginnings). Chinese New Year often falls in February, but this year is January 28th.
More details (and banners) coming soon.

Have a terrific week, and may all your TV show premieres be awesome!

I'm very sorry everyone. More issues in real life have been taking up all of my time lately, and may continue to do so for a bit. I owe so many people banners, it's not funny. They will be made as soon as humanly possible. November's puzzle will go up tomorrow, though it will not be as detailed as usual. Again, I am very sorry for this long ass blip in our regularly scheduled programming. Thanks for bearing with me.

[livejournal.com profile] sabotabby is still posting awesome reviews of Luke Cage at [livejournal.com profile] terror_scifi!
Agents of Shield is being discussed at [livejournal.com profile] terror_scifi.
Lucifer and Versailles discussions are at [livejournal.com profile] myth_fan.
South Park and Star Wars: Rebels discussions at [livejournal.com profile] aanime_fan.

Happy Halloween!
[identity profile] dancingdragon3.livejournal.com
Good Thursday, everyone :-) This is a Clan wide announcement.

I've already been absentee lately, but it will get much worse over the weekend. I have a work-education workshop I've been preparing for.

I apologize for any content I haven't gotten done, like puzzle and cosmic collision banners, nor have I been very vocal in the TV discussions. I may not be back here in full till Tuesday. Also, no newsletter until then.

[livejournal.com profile] sabotabby is still posting excellent recap reviews of Luke Cage at [livejournal.com profile] terror_scifi.

And I will still post the Star Wars: Rebels ([livejournal.com profile] aanime_fan), Lucifer ([livejournal.com profile] myth_fan), and Agents of Shield ([livejournal.com profile] terror_scifi) discussion threads. Once Upon a Time discussions are held at [livejournal.com profile] abc_onceupon.

Have a great weekend, enjoy your shows, and happy writing!

Sorry for the delay, everyone. The AO3 collection for September 2016.

Also, I've been meaning to formerly announce this, and now's a good time. As with members of affiliate comms being able to post completed puzzles whenever and wherever they want, everyone can also post completed fics for past puzzles to the appropriate AO3 collection whenever they want.

One issue - AO3 doesn't tell me when you all post to a collection, even though it should be. So if anyone does post to a past collection, and wants their fic to be advertised to Clan Terror at large, please leave me a heads up on the latest Newsletter.

Cross-Post Reminders:
Anyone posting comic, animation, and video game fan fic is welcome to cross-post directly to [livejournal.com profile] aanime_fan.
Anyone posting myth, fairy tale, supernatural, magick, etc related fan fic and original fic is welcome to cross-post directly to [livejournal.com profile] myth_fan.

The remaining August banners are coming soon. Thanks for your patience. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
[identity profile] dancingdragon3.livejournal.com

If anyone watches South Park, and is as excited for the new season as much as I am, I'm hosting an open discusion thread at [livejournal.com profile] aanime_fan. This is me seeing if I can spark some action over there. I'll also be having Star Wars Rebels discussions, hopefully :-) Stop on by and leave an opinion if you get a chance. Cheers, everyone! You don't have to be a member of aanime fan to take part.

Just to let everyone know, I'm having trouble setting up this month's puzzle collection. I'm assuming it's another one of AO3's recent hiccups. I'll let you all know when it's up.

Thanks to everyone who posted last month for you patience on the banners. Cheers!

Happy Amnesty month, everyone! Below the cut are direct links to all previous puzzles and reminders of their themes.

Up to four puzzles may be submitted this month. You may answer any previous puzzle. When posting, please include the month with the number of prompts and fic title in the post subject line.

Reminder - December will be another amnesty month. October’s pieces will be seasonally themed - ghosts, witches, zombies, etc. November will focus on avian shifters and other mythological birds.

Apologies - I am way behind on everything right now, including my duties to you all. I am very sorry. Let’s say I’ve been ‘having issues’, and leave it that? But I promise, I am slowly pulling my head out of my ass ;-) Thanks to everyone who contributed in August! The masterlist will be posted soon.

Note: Player’s Masterlist for July will be posted as soon as I’ve read all your entries. I’m sure everyone’s passes for all the prompts, but since I’ve pulled out the mod hat lately, I have to be fair and do so with everyone. (Recent work and personal RL has kept me busy, but I hope to finish them tonight!)

Announcement: There’s been a special challenge issued within the comments of August’s puzzle reveal. In the interests of fairness, this is me opening the challenge to all Puzzlers for all Puzzles! I hope some of you find this new level of play inspiring. Let's let our muses have some fun!

Crack/Bad Fic Challenge:
Set your main genre to 'crack fic' or 'bad fic'.
Fics can additionally be romance, action, horror, etc.
Crack pairings also count, but the whole fic must still be 'cracky' or 'badly' written.
Use most (5-8) of the available prompts in silly or random ways.
Rather than being shown, prompts can be randomly mentioned, preferably as non-sequiturs that have nothing to do with the fic’s action/setting/etc.
The fic must still be well-written, and most of all - funny and ridiculous! Or melodramatically sad and ridiculous.

Please include “Crack” or “Bad Fic” in your header, along with the number of prompts.
There is also a new 'crack/bad fic' tag.
Entries will receive a special, personalised Crack/Bad Fic Champion banner!
*Crack/bad fics are not eligible to be winners.

Where is the line between humor and crack? I'd say somewhere around canon/reality adherence, suspension of disbelief, OOC, and no higher purpose beyond the ludicrous.

In response to a question about the ‘Sports and Recc’ piece on June’s puzzle, I’ve added some alternatives to it - basically any synonym of dance used as a verb can count. See below cut. Or the June Puzzle Reveal for more details.

Slightly Altered fic Length Rules:
A True Drabble is still 100, 200, or 300 words, using at least one prompt.
Write 301-500 words = at least two prompts.
Write 501-1000 words = use at least three prompts.
Write 1001+ words = use at least four prompts.

New Puzzle Piece Categories:
Adulting Sucks!
Sports and Recc
The Classifieds

Starting in June, all puzzles will now have eight pieces.

For June, none of the Levels of Play/Winning will be affected. However, as we are adding eight prompts to each puzzle, I will definitely be lowering the number required for Puzzle Wizard, and I may make alterations to the other levels, increasing the level of difficulty by one or two prompts. There will be polls. But with eight possible pieces, I think the levels of bannery goodness might now be a wee bit too easy.  Consider this month a test run. Thanks for taking part in forming this new challenge community!

Puzzle reveal coming soon...
[identity profile] dancingdragon3.livejournal.com
Happy Tuesday, and welcome to new members! There are two polls going on, to expand the number of puzzle pieces each month, and expand the number of piece categories to include action/activity prompts. Current Rules and Guidelines.

As of current results, we will be expanding each puzzle to include eight pieces. As such, all three new potential categories will be added: Adulting Sucks!, Classified Section, and Sports and Recc, with the first two being noted as slightly more popular. Changes will be applied starting with June's puzzle.

Voting for the Puzzle Expansion polls will close on May 25th, 11pm EST. Only some members have voted, so if you have objections to these changes, there’s still time to make your voice heard.

Thanks to everyone who is helping shape this new community!
