Puzzle Prompt Challenge~January 2020

Power Hour: Time

Creature Feature: Crystalline

Classifieds Section: Science and Engineering

Geology Rocks: Asteroid

Random Object: Fire

Sense and Sensibilities:

Sight: yellow

Sound: painful, deafening noise

Smell: chemicals

Taste: peppermint

Touch: smooth

Emotion: anxiety

Time as a power could be a time machine, a superhero that can change the flow of time, a magic user that can see or travel through time, or even how time can cause emotional hurts to either fester or heal. Time travel tropes in media. Time manipulation in media.

A crystalline creature could be made of salt, ice, quartz, silicon, sulfur, etc. It could be an alien, something natural, magical, or manufactured. The creature(s) could be the magically made attacker used by your evil wizard, the misunderstood victim of a mad scientist, or the highly advanced species your space explorers encounter.

Science and Engineering - Your YA mystery could center around students of an advanced STEM school, where your villain is one of the teachers. Or your science fiction story could be about time engineers who monitor and protect the time line.

Your hero might be an engineer on an asteroid mining base, when a crystalline alien is found that begins to desiccate the crew, until they figure out how to melt it with fire.

Sense and Sensibilities is a reminder to make your story come alive using the senses and emotions of the POV character.

Ha. I had just finished a scene in a cave before you posted your Music Monday, so the Force wasn't with me, but I'm checking it out now anyway :) I still go back to the cave water sounds you posted ages ago.

And I'm still collecting these prompts in the hopes that someday when I'm done with this monster I might go back and use them, even if I only post on LJ.
